visitors visa period

hi All

I was granted a visitors visa in January 2015 and its expiry date is nxt year August. I came to Canada to visit my husband who is employed and has a work permit. the immigration officer stamped 6 months duration on my passport and I must leave Canada by July this year my question is do I have to go back to my country in Africa and come back or I can go to any nearest border jus for stamping since my visitors visa expires nxt year.

You can apply to extend your visitor status before it expires in July. It takes about 2 months for the application to be processed if you apply online. Longer if you do it by mail.

If your status expires before you get an answer from CIC, you can stay in Canada on implied status until a decision is made.

CIC recommends applying for extension at least 30 days before your status expires.
