Hi everyone:
I cant seem to find an answer to my questions so I am posting them here hopefully someone can answer.

My father is coming to canada on 5th June. He has a multiple visitors visa stamp for a duration of one year. Now the question is can he live for 1 year or he has to leave the country after 6 months?

I was told by someone that their work permit was expiring so they sent the passport to buffalo and they restamped it. Now can my father send his passport (let say in november when his 6 month stay would be over) to buffalo and get a rentry like that?

Thirdly, so lets say above mentioned workaround is not possible then he has to go to buffalo and then can he get a rentry right away or how does it work.

Please help soon coz i have to tell my dad ... already got shouted at when he asked me those questions i had no answers.

Normally visitors are given a 6-month allowable visit. Your father can actually request for an extension of the visit (not the visa) by sending an application to CPC-Vegreville.

Follow the links.

So what about other options, I mean I have heard that ppl just go to the US border and get a new entry ... leaving canada and then coming back in ... but for that dont u need a valid US visa as well. Please advise

The border officers now know about the "flagpoling" option. It's up to you. Your father could either send in an extension application or exit Canada and come back. To exit to the US one must have a valid US visa though.
