Hi everyone,
I am planning to invite my mom to spend christmas and new year with my husband and I this year. My problem is..

My mom never had a bank account under her name. She had been using one of my sister's bank account. Since I am planning to get her a visitor's, visa she opened one under her name just last week.
I am hoping she could get here by december but I am worried there is not enough time for the bank statement as the immigration/ consulate is asking at least 6 months bank statement proof. also, she had been retired for a while and doesnt have proof of income or any big assets to declare. My husband and I will be providing all expenses even plane ticket.

Do we have a chance getting approve for her visitor's visa? My husband is a canadian citizen and I am holding a permanent resident card. We have already got approved when we invited a friend to come and visit. she is now going back home.

please help.............

hello,
have you applied for your mother's sponsorship? being your close relative it will make it difficult for her to get visa, you need to collect as much proof of her ties to her country as possible.
good luck

Hi,

Your mom and my mom are in the same situation and my mom's TRV application was already denied twice (the second one just last friday).

We even had a pending sponsorship application for her but she was still denied. She was previously granted a 3-year multiple entry visa, which expired in May 2009. The only difference that we could think of was she still had her business when she applied 3 years ago. Now, she is retired and has already sold her business. But we put in some money in her bank account but apparently it is not enough.

We really don't know what else to do know. We can't understand why Canadian immigration can be so strict with giving TRVs to senior citizens.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what else to provide as proof of ties? Does this mean my mother can no longer visit us until her sponsorship application is processed, which can take 4 to 5 years?
