Visitors Visa and PR application

My spouse in India applied for a tourist visa and it has been 7-8 months already since we applied for the PR sponsorship.

Luckily she has got a multiple entry visitors visa for a year last week and at the same time received a letter from Immigration to provide with the medical for the PR (the one we originally applied with expired)

We are trying to decide on whether its best for her to visit me for the summer or wait for the pr to finish before the summer does.

Question is

1) how long does it generally take them to finalize the sponsorship process after the medical is received

2) how much time you have till you can send your passport to them when it is requested?

Wow you are one lucky person to receive the Re-medical letter. Please post this update and ur timeline on the 2015 New Delhi thread.

As for the answer:
1) from 1 week to 1 month. If u r unlucky then I am seeing cases who go for 2 months after remedical.

2) as soon as u get Re-medical letter, you should go and do it! Don't wait. I think usually u r suppose to do it within 30 days of receiving the letter. After remedical ur spouse is free to come here on visitor visa. And once she gets passport request, u can send it to Ottawa and she can land thru the USA land border.

Thanks for replying.. Are you able to confirm this for sure that Ottawa should be able to accept and process the passport while she is in Canada on visitors visa even though the PR sponsorship process was done from India.

Ottawa will give visa ... You can do landing in Canada then. good luck with your application

i'm not so sure what the other poster is saying is accurate, so i would recommend waiting to see if others can confirm the information...

unfortunately i don't know enough about your visa office to give a response. perhaps the thread specific to your visa office will also be able to confirm the information. there are bound to be people on there that have gone through the same thing...

Yes, Couple of my friends have done that. Even though the Visa Processing was done in India, They sent their passports to Ottawa, while they are here in Canada on Visiting Visa.
