Visitors and humanitarian and compassionate application

Hi guys,

I need help on proper guidance for my parents.My parents are in Canada since June 2017, we have extended their visitor record 3 times so far,in the meanwhile we have submited last year in August 2019 humanitarian and compassionate application for my parents. Still awaiting on a decision, they havent started processing our case yet.My question is, I want to be able to have my parents stay in Canada while awaiting on a decision for H and C application but the problem is their multiple visa and passport expires in November 2020. We just submited for another visitor extension until October 2020 because of the COVID 19.Are there any other options for my parents, for example to ask for work permit or restoration of the status once their multiple visa expires. We can apply for them to get new passport in our embacy in Canada so that they have valid passport as the current expires in November 2020. But what other options they have, don’t want to send them home while Humanitarian and Compassionate application is in proccess.

Extending their visitor visa is really the only option for them to stay in Canada legally. There is no work permit option available to them.

They should apply to extend their passports so that they can apply for another extension when this one is over. If this extension or a future extension is refused, they can always try to stay in Canada without status. It's most likely going to be another two years or so before a decision is made in their H&C application.
