Hi, I have an urgent question and can see from previous posts on this forum that similar questions have been asked but have yet to see a query exactly as mine, so I apologise if the answer is the same but I wanted to be double sure before entering the country as I can't seem to find an answer online anywhere.
The situation is that I am the UK and I lived in Toronto for 12 months on a working visa which finished in October 2014. In order to stay in the country after my working visa expired to sort my affairs and say goodbyes, I applied for, (and paid $100) and was successfully granted a tourist visa that allowed me to stay in the country as a tourist until the 15 December 2014. I left Canada and returned to England on the 5th of November 2014.
I am now planning to return for a 10 day holiday on the 13th February this year to visit with my partner, who is Canadian, but I am worried I won't be allowed re-entry to the country. Does anyone know if there is a temporary time period I will have to wait to re-enter the country now that my working visa, and subsequent tourist visa expired in December?
As mentioned, I have searched online everywhere to find a number for the Canadian embassy, and immigration board, but both numbers I have found don't take enquiries over the phone, so I either have to book an appointment to ask my question, or send an email and wait a week for a response. But I am ready to book my flights and each passing day the ticket price is going up.
If I can re-enter with no waiting time, I plan on arriving at immigration with my return flight to England booked, proof of my accommodation whilst in Canada, and a letter of confirmation from my UK employer showing I have a job to return to. Do you think this will be OK for re-entry, or is there a waiting time period for my situation I need to honour?
If anyone can offer any advice or answers at all, I would be extremely grateful.
Thank you.
