Hello Everyone,

My wife's sister is a a PR holder, her husband is a Canadian Citizen. and we would like to visit them as it has been long we havent met. Myself, My wife and my 4 year old son, we have applied for Visitor Visa on 26th February, 2021 and have not received any update yet on our application.

Given the current situation, i need suggestion on the below :-

1.How long does it for us to get the Visitor Visa?
2.What are the chances to get the Visa ?
3.How can we expedite the process if any way for Family Reunification ?
4. Any personal experience if you all can share for your Visitor Visa application and how much time it took for approval.

We do not intend to stay longer or settle in Canada at all and would want to come back to India. It has been long that we havent met each other and look forward to meet them in Canada as due to their work commitments they cannot travel to India.

Also only your wife is considered extended family and she needs written authorization to travel and show her travel is essential. You and your son are not included so you will need to wait until all travel restrictions are lifted.

1. Posted processing time for India is currently around 100 days.
2. Depends on your overall profile.
3. Only your wife qualifies under Family Reunification. You and your child do not. Since you applied together, your application will not be expedited.
4. As others have said, you and your child do not qualify to travel at this time and do not fall under the travel exemption. The Family Reunification exemption and allowance for travel only applies to your wife. If you wish to travel as a family, then you should expect it will be much later this year (once travel restrictions are lifted) before this will be possible. Likely fall at the earliest.

Would add that if you have not done biometrics your application will be on hold until you travel to Dubai or Nepal or the offices open in India for anyone requiring biometrics. In general it is not advisable to travel.. would think it may be closer to next year before travel is possible,
