Hi, I am planning for visit to canada to meet some of my relatives . Could you pls tell me :

Would their invitation letter + their bank statements + my employment details here in USA be enough , or should I also need to submit
my bank statements(not enough fund) ?

Thanks,

Are you an American? You don't need a visa in that case.

But if not, then yeah, you would require a bank statement of your own, I am pretty sure. It's to prove that you have enough to support your return to the US. Also, make sure that their invitation letter states that they will support you financially during your stay and you will be staying with them.

Though, are you dependent on someone -- like a spouse or parents? You should submit "proof of your financial situation, or of the person on whom you are financially dependent, including bank and credit card statements, salary receipts and tax declarations. Original documents, along with one set of copies, must be submitted."

Also, get a note from your employer stating that they are giving you vacation and the length of vacation would be helpful.

You need their letter of invitation (and in the form of an undertaking if you don not have enough funds), your employment details and you can go personanlly to Canadian Consulate in NYC. Go early with the required documents (you need the proof of your status in the US), exact fees.

If you are in the United States with H-1 status, please provide:

* Your original I-797 approval notice form and
* A letter from your employer or other proof of current employment.

Applications for Temporary Resident Visas (Visitors) and Travel Document for Permanent Residence Abroad may be submitted in person between the hours of 8:00 and 10:30 am, Monday through Friday (public holidays excepted).
