As far as I know, there is no income requirement to enter Canada as a visitor. But if you're going to live in an expensive city, I'd have some extra income stored, as you will not be able to work ;)

How much do u have to have in your bank to be allowed to stay for 6 months??
What country are you from? If you are coming from the US or another country with no visa requirements, they could theoretically turn you away with no proof of income or ties to your home country. When my husband originally came to Canada they were happy he had a few hundred dollars but he only got to stay for a month, so I'd take at least a thousand to be safe. Also make sure you have that return ticket, that is the biggest part, IF you are coming by bus or plane. No need for a return ticket if you are driving, obviously.
