So my wife (Syrian) and I (Canadian born citzen) , and 2 kids (Canadian) , were living in Dubai , and we were planning to visit Canada to see my parents , and all of a sudden within a month after the visa came , I got let go from my job , and I had to go to Canada. Now my wife has a TRV for 2 years , its been almost 6 months do I need to apply for an extension or only when her TRV expires. Also , I am in the process of sponsoring here , would that be possible as well , as she is unable to go to her country as it is a warzone currently .

TRV is irrelevant in this situation. You need to apply for an extension on her visitor status. Please use the tool for instructions:

It is a good idea to include the PR's AOR in the visitor status extension as a supporting document. Having an inland PR process active is a good argument to get an extension.
