visitor visa, while processing spousal app

CIC started processing our application for spousal sponsorship (outland). Both of us live outside Canada. Is it wise for him to apply for a visitor visa to Canada? would that somehow affect the application (say he does not get a visitor's visa)?

applying for a visitor's visa will not affect your application. while it's difficult to get, it is not impossible. there is no harm in applying.
