Visitor visa while in sponsorship process

Hello,

I submitted my sponsorship application 3 weeks ago to sponsor my wife, some people suggest that she can apply for visitor visa and come to visit me. She is not currently working, she depends on me financially which I think might affect her visitor visa approval. My question is, can the fact of depending on sponsor be a reason of being denied visitor visa? And if she ever get refused for visitor visa, will that affect the spousal sponsorship in process?

yes, probably. the goal of a visitor visa application is to be able to show strong ties to your home country. if she can't do that by showing she has a job or property where she's from, and her only source of means is you in canada, that will probably be considered a red flag.

no, it does not affect your spousal sponsorship process at all.
