Hi members,

I need advice on whether I should apply for a visitor visa or a spouse visa for my wife from India.

Background: I am a permanent resident of Canada and applied for my citizenship in January 2022(still under process). I got married in February 2023 and was hoping to get my citizenship by now. Nevertheless, I need to now bring my wife here.
I am concerned that a spouse visa will take more time compared to a visitor visa so, I want to use the visitor visa. Once, my wife is here, I was planning to apply for a spouse visa in tandem with the work permit.

I would really appreciate it if someone experienced or has gone through something similar can advise whether it is the right approach and guide me on how to proceed.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Regards,
Sunny Sharma

My opinion. Apply for a spousal Sponsorship. I know it takes time but its better than Visitor Visa and it has higher chances got getting approved. Nothing wrong with the visitor visa but the problem is proving strong ties back home since her husband i.e. you are a Canadian PR and hopefully a Citizen soon.

There is no such thing as a spouse visa perhaps you mean sponsorship. Spouses enter on a normal TRV.
