Hi All,
My mother is visiting me on a multiple entry visitor visa from India which is valid until 2020.

She came on 19th Oct 2017 and was not stamped for exit date when entering canada. This automatically implies that she can stay in canada for 6 months from the day of entry.

During this time, she has gone to US for trip for 4 days when she was out of canada and came back again last week.

My question fellows is that does this reset the entry date back again to day 1 and would be considered or allowed to stay a maximum of 180 days from her entry into Canada from US, starting last week.

Please assist as I would extend her tickets accordingly for travelling back to India.

If anyone has encountered this kind of situation please help.

Regards,

No, it doesn't reset the entry date.
Hi Steaky,

Thanks for your reply.

Since, a US visit is not considered as leaving the country; can you please also help me with these 2 further questions.

1) If not US, is any other country considered to be leaving the country in the neighborhood. I mean what about any place in Caribbean. Will that be equivalent to leaving country and would that be taken into consideration.

2) Secondly, is there anything any other limitations on visitor status for 6 months. Because I think in US a visitor status of 6 months is granted and cannot be extended for more that that duration even if you leave country and then come back. Essentially, only allowing 180 days out of 365 days in

If you want your mother to stay longer why not apply for a supervisa? You can also apply to extend her visa while in Canada. She may get an extension but all these options will require her to return to her home country at some point. To apply for supervisa she will have to be in her home country.
