It varies, maybe weeks or months. There are people waiting for months for a decision. I am waiting since Nov.
Current processing time for India is 95 days

Have you got your visa till.now or.not
I had 2 applications in process. One for my parents which was applied on Dec and got approved 2 days ago. Other one for spouse which is in process since Nov.
You can check in other threads on this forum to see the timeline for different people

I have a two part question, does the real waiting start after the eligibility becomes : "We are reviewing wether you meet the eligibility requirements " ??
And does the background check become something like " Background check completed " before approval ? Or does it remain "We are processing your background check " ?
Thanks

You cannot guarantee. Sometimes they change the status Sometimes they won't. My parents Application which was approved 2 days ago, eligibility status went into review when they got PPR. They will get eligibility completed and back check completed when visa is stamped and application is closed.

But for my spouse application, eligibility started back in Dec and still no decision yet.
So waiting actually starts from biometrics. Most of the cases, it would be a direct PPR without any change in status

Thanks for the response, I read online that there are two portals. I applied on this link :
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account.html
by clicking on the sign in under GCkey and making an account with the security questions and username and password.

Is that the old portal or the new one ? Plus does the processing time changes between portals ?

Gckey is old one. No separate processing time for each portal. But heard new portal is faster

It seems rather confusing this story. On the cic website where you get info about how to apply there is no direct link to the new portal on the visitor visa application page. There is redirection to Gckey only.
Plus Gckey seems more secure because it uses ssl crypto with the security questions.

Maybe IRCC new portal is just for people inside canada now ?
Did you apply on the GCkey or IRCC ? And inside the IRCC, is it like the GCkey platform with eligibility status, background check etc. with the same format ? (so I can know who applied on wich portal on the forum)
Thank you

You can apply in whichever portal you like. I did on gckey, it was my choice. It's a complete personal choice which one you want to use.

Please refer to other threads on this forum. You will get better understanding.
This is link for new portal

I would like to know when did your parents got PPR after status went into review. My parents files status went in review a week ago. No answer yet. Application date Jan 22.

Please see my comments above.
For my parents, eligibility went into review after they got approval.

For my spouse application, review started in Dec and no decision yet. Eligibility review status is not always an indicator of decision. You cannot completely rely on it
