Hi All,

Recently my sister applied for visitor (TRV) visa from India. She is a student (Bachelor of Commerce )and her plan was to visit me and my family and to spend Christmas holidays with us. She had planned to land on Dec 22nd and leave by Dec 30th. She does not have a travel history and it is her first time going abroad.

Reasons for rejection
  • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
  • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

Application Details
  • Invite letter from me and my wife (Both of us are in Canada , Wife on ICT and I'm on Open work permit, Both of us are employed), Our Work permit, Our passport details, Our proof of address, Employment letter.
  • Itinerary details, place of stay (In our apartment), The places she will visit in Canada
  • Letter from her college that they have no objection for her visit during holidays and details about college holidays.
  • Financial details:
    • Since she is a student she depends on her mother for finance. Also in the invite letter , me and my wife promised that we will take care of her expenses in Canada
    • Our mother is employed in India. So she also wrote a signed letter that she will also support her as and when required.
    • Submitted financial details of me and my wife (Bank stements in Canada and India, Deposit details)
    • Submitted financial details of mother (Bank stements in India, Deposit details etc)
    • Sister's bank account did not have any money as she is a student and depends on mother. So her bank statement was not included.
  • Declared that she will carry CAD 2000 for her expenses in Canada.
  • Proof of relationship (My passport showing the name of mother and father)
Questions
  • Can any of you please let me know where it went wrong?
  • When should I reapply? Can I reapply after a few months? By that time she will finish her studies, so is it difficult to get a visa?
  • She is already having a job offer from India and will join soon after he studies. Can I use that as a proof to get her visitor visa next time?
  • Should I deposit some money in her account and keep it for a few months before I apply next time?
Kindly share your thoughts? Let me know if you need further details.

Unfortunately her profile is weak since she doesn't have a travel history and doesn't really have any assets. I would wait until she has finished school and been working for six months before you reapply.

As scylla has mentioned, your sister had a weak profile. What also went against her TRV approval is an unconvincing visit of just 8 days + a B.Com degree which is not a specialized qualification.

As explained.

She is already having a job offer from India and will join soon after he studies. Can I use that as a proof to get her visitor visa next time?
Her chances of a TRV approval will not improve after she completes her study program (in fact, her only tie i.e. the study tie would become non-existent)..... nor if she has a job offer.

For any chances of a TRV approval, she must reapply at least 8-9 months after she starts working + when she can prove she is able to pay for the visit with her own finances.

Should I deposit some money in her account and keep it for a few months before I apply next time?
It won't work. The visa officer can see where the money came from
