Hello everyone,

Im a Canadian citizen born and raised. I will be getting married to a girl in Pakistan in then near future inshAllah. My fiance has significant travel history and also relatives in Canada whom their family would like to visit, over this coming summer. We are planning for her to apply for a visit visa with her family (father, Mother, sister and brother) prior to us getting married, then doing the sponsorship process after. Hecne her family can come to see their relatives as well.

Are there any caveats to this approach, or any tips? Any help will be highly appreciated.

Make sure you gather as much evidence as possible that she will return to Pakistan.

Don't buy plane tickets until the visa is in their hands.

Hi, wazim.

I applied for a TRV before I got married, too. The difference is that I dont have family here, and the only person I know is my husband (fiancé when I applied). My application was approved. We got married in the US (I'm from the Philippines, BTW) and after our honeymoon, I entered Canada on a tourist visa with my husband.

My advice is to gather as much proof as you can to support your claims that she will not stay here illegally and that she has strong ties to her country, and will be going back when her status expires. Make sure also that she has enough money to support herself while she is here, or that you have enough money to support her.

Also, are you planning on getting married in Canada?

Anyway, good luck to you both!

Thanks for your reply. Plan is to get married in Pakistan and do an outland application. My understanding of the inland application is that she will have to stay in Canada for the duration of the process which is 25 odd months?
