Hello everyone.
I am doing some preliminary research as I am not at all familiar with Canadian immigration laws, and I wanted to ask you all a couple of questions since I am reading some conflicting information online.
I am going to Canada in December under the visa waiver program with hopes to adjust my status once there.
On some websites, I read that I cannot apply for a work permit while on a visitor status and I would do better to apply for PR.
Somewhere else I read that I should apply for work permit instead because PR process takes too long and it's impossible to extend my legal visitor stay for that long or that many times. Could you please help me out? What do you think I should do?

Thanks!

Either of these things take time so would encourage you to do it from your home country. To get a work permit you will need to get a LMIA. Most employers are reluctant to pursue an LMIA due to time and expense. If approved it could take many months. You will have to look into whether you qualify to apppy to become a PR. That would probably be a good place to start.
