VISITOR VISA- PECULIAR SITUATION -- HELP PLEASE

I am on work permit and in Canada with my family since 2010. My WP expire in Aug 2013 and I had applied for it to be extended it until Dec 2014. While CIC extended my WP as well as that of my wife, it provided Study permit and Visitor permit to my two kids only until March 2014 as their Passports were expiring then. I have renewed their passports now. In the meanwhile, I sent my second Kid to a Boarding school in India. Now I have to renew his Visitor permit until Dec 2014 as I intend to bring him back in early 2014.

I am stuck in figuring out which set of forms to use. The forms for getting extending the Visitor Permit ( dependent on my WP) from within Canada has a column " Country of Residence" and can I show Canada ? In the boxes for employment details for 10 years should I include the data about his being a student in India. I have his PP and since all of us are here, applying for the permit and VISA from India is not possible.

Can the experienced members of this forum help me in guiding about the set of forms to use and on how the abovementioned boxes are to be filled.

1. The child is not in Canada, so s/he doesn't require an extension, which is for persons in Canada.

Appreciate your quick reply. However the reason for the post was that I plan to bring my child back in April 2014. He neither has status nor the visa. I am trying to extend his status up to Dec 2014 from the present expiry of March 2014. I need to get him a VISA too so that he can travel to join us..

You can't extend his visitor permit. He's left Canada. As PMM explained, you can only extend if the visitor is still in Canada.

He needs a new visitor permit.

Thank you, Scylla for your reply. I consulted an immigration lawyer and he echoes your views, except that he has asked me to apply for an open study permit instead of visitor permit so that i can put my son in a school here too when he comes to Canada. Since he is there alone, I am planning to authorise my friend to apply for this on his behalf.
