Visitor Visa Paris - Did I do something wrong ?

Hi,
I’m an Algerian with permanent residency in France. I applied for a visitor visa to Canada to visit my brothers there.

I applied on the Canadian government web site without going through VFS. My problem it that my demand is not been processed. Did I had to go through VFS to make them process the demand?

Here is the timeline:
  • Date Received: April 17, 2019
  • Date of Biometrics Enrolment: April 24, 2019 (Done in Lyon, France CRDVC)
Since that moment I got nothing. They didn’t start reviewing my demand :
  • "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility."
It’s been 7 weeks and I scheduled my departure for the 15th of June. I already write a form to ask them about the delays two weeks ago. I got no answer so far.

I would like to know if I have to do something that I missed or I just have to be patient and delay my departure.

My sincere advice would be for you to be patient. It is possible that there is a large queue of applications to be attended to.
Always check the status of your online account and your email address for further update.

They will get to you soon.

Same is the case here, still waiting to read from them. my flight is on 23 june! I applied on 8th April in Paris VFS. when I check my status online, I get the same message exactly.
Update us if you receive any notification or a decision here bro!

Just an update, I got a refusal today.

I think it's because I'm (27 years old) a PhD student and Algerian don't have multiple year residency permit in France. It's has to be renewed every year.
This year I'm gonna apply for a 10 year residency in France. I hope that will help me to prove that I'm really not willing to stay in Canada, and I got there only to visit my famility.
