Visitor visa or visitor visa extension?

Hi,

My mother is here in canada with me on visitor status. Her passport is expiring on 30th December 2021. I applied for her passport renewal from within canada and she has got her new passport. Can she apply for new visitor visa from within canada or will she have to apply for visitor visa extension.
Pls advice.

What does she want to do? These two applications accomplish extremely different things.

If she wants to remain in Canada longer without leaving, she needs to apply for an extension (not a new TRV).
