Visitor visa - need help on my case

Hi everyone!

I appreciate any advise on my case.

I'm holding a Vietnamese passport. I studied and worked in Canada for nearly 3 years and had to leave Canada in last April as my work permit expired. I got married with a Canadian in November 2010. However, I've just apply for my Canadian PR in April. The result is supposed to come in around October.

I am now staying in Singapore with my parents-in-law. I want to apply for a visitor visa to go Canada and stay with my husband for a few months while I am waiting for the PR result. When I get my PR, I still need to get out of Canada and then go back to activate the PR status anws. So, I went to Canadian High Comission in Singapore to submit my application. The official, after reviewing my application, advised me that I can hardly get my visa approved as I don't meet the requirements. The reasons he gave are:
- I don't have any strong tie to either Singapore or Vietnam (employment...) which ensures that Ill return to Singapore/Vietnam after the trip.
- Getting my parents-in-law (Singaporeans) to be my sponsor doesn't help.

This is just funny as my husband is working, he can support my stay there, my parents in law can sponsor for me... and I still can't get a visitor visa.

Any one has any ideas what I should do?

Visitor visas are only granted to people who wish to visit Canada as tourists and have no plan to remain in the country long term. Since you have a Canadian husband and a PR application in progress, you clearly have plans to remain in Canada long term - and this is why your application rejected. It doesn't matter that you have to leave Canada to activate the PR status. For CIC's perspective, you do not meet the qualifications of someone who just has plans to visit.

There's really nothing you can do. People in your situation are typically/usually refused visit visas because they don't qualify.

The fact that you can't demonstrate strong ties to your home country + the face that you have a Canadian husband/PR application in the works means that you will be rejected for a visit visa if you decide to apply again.

It looks like you'll have to wait out your PR application in Singapore.

Can I have a question?

What If I apply for a multiple entry visa?
We plan to have our traditional weddings in Vietnam and Indonesia in October and I also have a biz to work on in Vietnam and Singapore so Ill need to travel back and forth between Singapore/Vietnam and Canada.

Do you think it would help? I can get the company that I am working for to write a letter for me to confirm.

It might if you can provide solid proof. You can use the dual intent principal, that even though you have applied for PR, this doesn't mean you will overstay a visit if allowed.
