Hello

I am Canadian and my wife of 8 years is Brazilian and we both reside in Japan. My wife has been to Canada twice before without any problems. In the future we intend to apply for a spousal visa for her. My father in Canada has stage 4 colon cancer and we want to take our daughter home for 2 weeks this summer for some quality time with him.
I figured the quickest way to get a visa is for her to just get another visitor visa for now since we are in a hurry. Her visa was rejected. They say they think she has intent to stay in the country and also she is a stay home mom and not employed so insufficient funds. I sent bank statements from my TD bank (With over 10K) and a savings account here with ($7K CDN). I thought for 2 weeks that would surely satisfy them. No? My wife also has a savings account with $20K US but I didnt' show that because I figured since I am supporting the family I'd just show my stuff.

What is enough funds and what do we need to do to prove she's returning back to Japan (She's a long term resident here)? I sent an itinerary to them of our flight but it wasn't paid at the time. I have the itinerary again but this time it is paid. Will that suffice? My father in Canada wrote a letter and attached his passport in which he invites us to stay at his house the 2 weeks. He also mentioned he is a retired principal of an elementary school.

Can I send too much information? For example, my shares that I hold and also money I have in an investment firm? Can I show that as well?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,

Thanks for the reply. My wife's visa has been rejected. We have a 3 year old daughter who is both Brazilian and Canadian. She was born in Japan but I applied for her passport and birth certificate. So just my wife. Thank you for your time.

Maybe I haven't provided enough info here.

I never showed any bank accounts of my wife's although she does 2. Not a lot of money moves in and out of them because I give her cash every month after each paycheck. I believe she has around $26,000 CDN between the both of them.
Also, should I write a letter saying how much money I give her each month? Does it help to say I am also debt free?

How do I help prove that my wife and my daughter and I are only going for the 2 weeks the tickets itinerary says? Does my retired father in Canada need to show his bank statements as well? Or the fact he's in stage 4 cancer? Will that help in reasons why we are going?

Also, she is my spouse and I and our daughter are Canadian. Does that not add anything?
She also has a 10 year visa for the USA (8 years left). And we have visited, Phoenix Arizona and Mexico on separate occasions. She has been back to Brazil numerous times in her 15 years of living in Japan. I did submit some stamped pages in her latest Passport (Mexico with stop overs in the USA where in there). Should I do more?

Thank you.

Are online banking statements saved as jpeg and attached to a WORD document with other bank statements work? For example a Toronto Dominion easyweb account showing the past 5 months history?

Every bits of things help. You might as well include your wife's asset (the applicant) and your father's asset (the host family) in your next application. You have to print the statement out. They do not accept soft copies.

Thank you for your reply. But what does this mean? Thank you.
All evidence has to be printed.

OK. Sorry for the confusion but to clarify, all my on-line statements need to be printed and then scanned back into the computer as jpeg or PDF files right?

I cannot save the on-line statements directly as a PDF or JPG. Is that what you are saying? I must download, print, scan and then upload with other files. Correct?

Thanks in advance and sorry if for not understanding.

Are you going to apply online or send a paper application? If you going to send a paper application, all evidence must be print out.

I will apply on-line. So I am curious if I can take screen shots of my on-line banking statements and attach them to a word document along with other statements from other bank accounts.

I don't think you need to if you're applying online. It would seem redundant to print something that came off digitally, only to reconvert it back to digital to submit online.
