Visitor visa for parents , we are on work permit

Hello ,
I am planning to submit visitor visa for my parents , they are planning to come to Canada in March 2022 .
My work permit is valid till dec 2021 , extension is in process and I should get it by dec end .

I need inputs and your thoughts about whether I should wait for the work permit extension to submit their visa .

Also please share current timelines .

TRVs are primarily dependent on the strength of the person applying not the person in Canada so no need to wait. If their application isn’t very strong I would consider waiting.

Thank you for your response on this .
My parents are retired but with strong ties to India . They will be staying with us here and we will be taking care of all the expenses . Because of this reason I was unsure I should wait for my extension to be approved . Other than that I can mention in the application that they will travel only if we get our extension.

Your parents apply and are approved roved based on their own profiles - ties, funds, travel history etc. Your expenses may not be considered.

In general visitors must show that they have the ability to find their own travel even if you will paying their expenses. There are still some TRVs that get approved without strong finances but given that you are on a WP it would be much better for them to show that they have sufficient savings, have property and the evaluated value, travel history, etc. If they don’t have a strong profile to qualify on their own they should wait until you have your WP extension.
