Visitor Visa for Niece

I currently live in Ottawa and am a Canadian citizen. I hava niece living in China who's graduating from Master's at the end of June. Before she works, she wants to take a break and visit me in Canada around August. I was wondering what are the chances of her being approved for a visitor visa? I'm willing to write an invitation letter and support her during her stay here in Canada. I'm just afraid that the immigration official will look at her application and because she doesn't have a job yet and is a new graduate would think that her chances of overstaying her visa is high. Does anyone have any similar experiences?

The other thing I was considering was for her to come here to study English for like 4 weeks in a summer camp. What do people think about this option and what are the chances of success?

She needs to include proof in her visa application that she has plans to return to China and no plans to stay in Canada long term. Does she already have a job waiting for her in China when she returns? If so, she should include a letter from her employer. Does she have an apartment she rents? Any assets that she owns in China (bank accounts, vehicles, etc.)?

If you decide to go the summer camp route - she will still need a visit visa to enter Canada. (Study permits are only for courses longer than six months.)

Thanks for the reply. She can show that she has an apt. that she rents and financial assets but she doesn't currently have a job lined up. Will not having a job lined up affect her application signficantly?

The fact that you are writing a letter and providing financial support may work against her case and lead IO to believe she has strong ties to Canada and will not leave after her term is over. The best option for her is to get a job, show her independence, show that she has some kind of asset like house, and money to come back to. Also it would make the case stronger if she has been working for sometime, like maybe 2 or 3 years, otherwise IO might get the impression she is job hopping too frequently with no stability in her life.

This is not a black and white answer, while some items will work in her favor..it's not impossible to get a visa by an invite only. So might as well try it.

Canada needs tourist from China? ( never heard of this )
