Hi,
I'm in Canada on a visitor visa and my wife is a PR holder. My PR application is in progress. We want to bring my parents to Canada on a Visitor Visa and we plan to use my wife name as the person they are visiting and for financial responsibility as she is PR. While looking through the details of who qualifies as immediate family or extended family, we are not sure of on which category they fall under.
An immediate family member is defined as a:
spouse or common-law partner
dependent child (yours, your spouse’s or your common-law partner’s)
dependent child of a dependent child
parent or step-parent (yours, your spouse’s or your common-law partner’s)
guardian or tutor

Is the green highlighted text talks about the Visitor Visa applicant being parent or the PR holder being a parent, we are not able to clearly understand, Do they qualify under immediate family member as they are in-laws of my wife or do we have to apply under extended family, can anyone please help?

They can apply as immediate family members. They need to show their own funds, ties to country, travel history etc. She can write a letter of invitation.

Hi, just a quick follow up on this topic.
For Context: My parents are applying for visitor visa to visit myself (on TRV), my wife (PR) and our newborn child (Canadian Citizen).

While applying for the visa, in one of the questions 'Why do you need a visa?', there are options for visiting spouse, parent, step-parent, grand parent, dependent child, non-dependent child, grandchild etc., but none of them fits the category to visit daughter-in-law.
  1. There is one option that reads, 'To visit other family who are not listed', do I need to select this option? If so, would they still be considered an immediate family member?
  2. If the Option 1 does not work out then, another option about visiting grandchild seems slightly applicable too (we have a child who is Canadian Citizen), but he is only 5 months, if I choose this option how do I provide invite letter and show financials(to provide for my parents basic needs)?
Can you please help on this?
I'm not able to attach the image which would have made this question easier to understand, sorry about that.

Thanks,
Raj
