Hello all,

I would really appreciate if you could guide me on my situation. I am a permanent resident of Canada but currently studying in dental school in US. I will be graduating next year. I plan to go to Canada for my summer vacations in May this year and would like my younger brother to meet me there to visit various tourist spots.
He is younger than me and presently in India working as a regional manager for a private firm. He doesnt have much savings as he has recently finished his education and started working.

My parents has some savings, infact they are the ones paying for my dental school also. I want to know-

1- What documents does he need from me for a 10 day visa?
2- I was working last year in Canada but not anymore, do I need to provide my last year tax docs etc?
3- I can buy him a plane ticket and can send him the reservations for the places we will be visiting while on vacation, would this help?

so basically his whole trip would be planned and paid for by me and my parents. Is this a high chance of rejection situation ? Any inputs would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

1. You must provide an invitation letter + copies of your passport/PR card + NOA + bank statements

2. It's not necessary but can help

3. It is not advisable to buy tickets until a visa is issued.

IMO, he might get a refusal because he has started working only recently + he is dependent on your parents/yourself to pay for this visit

a. Does he own other assets like property/land?
b. Has he traveled abroad earlier?
c. Does he have any financial investments like FDs, RDs, mutual funds, shares, etc?
d. Who will provide accommodation when he visits?

Cheers

a. He doesnt, he is only 22 and just started working after finishing his graduation.
b. No, there were no reasons for him to travel before this.
c. No, he has just started his career, how could anyone has mutual funds at this age?
d. I have booked accommodation and he will be staying with me. I have a car in Canada to travel, so he wont have to pay.

I havent seen any of my family since two years, I just want him to visit me so that we can enjoy summer vacations. I dont know whether I tell him to come visit me in US or Canada. I thought Canada would be okay as I am a PR and will be going to Canada anyways during all my vacations. I dont want him to spend extra money on two visas and flight tickets.

Yeah, so given this kind of profile, it's generally harder to be granted a tourist visa for either the US or Canada.

IMO if his career/job are very comfortable, like he has a high salary for his age and experience, and he works at a reputable company, that's a good tie to have. It's how my brother at the same age got granted visas for the US and Canada, but he does have some travel history, as we took a lot of trips together as a family to visa-required countries.
