Hello people,

I have applied already for PR through the family class (spouse), and I am in Canada as a visitor waiting for it. When I crossed the border I showed that I was going back to Europe the 6 April (that is when I have the returning flight), but I am planing to stay longer. My question is:
Right now, do I have visa only until the 6th April? Or I have 6 months?
Because they didn't give any visitors record
If I have only until the 6th, I am going to apply for extension that I believe I can apply only a maximum of 6 months more, and I have to do it with the limit of 30 days before of my actual visa expires.

Thank you for your time

Hi

If your passport stamp has only the date of entry, then you have 6 months.

You can ask to extend it for a year if you like. It's fairly common for them to extend for a year.

CIC says you should apply 30 days before your visitor's visa expires but in fact you can file the application for an extension anytime before your original visa expires and you then have implied status to remain in Canada until they make a decision on your extension application.
