Visitor visa extension pointless??

Hi,

My parents want to extend their stay for another 45 days, they still have 35 days left (one should apply 30 days before for extension)

My question is, the timeline says 120 days or so approximately.

So by the time it gets processed they already left Canada, kind of makes it pointless to apply?
They have a 10 years old multiple entry permit.

Can someone help me out please.

Were they given a visitor record indicating a departure date? If not, they can stay up to 6 months without any extensions.

No they werent given anything. They didnt stamp anything either,

their 6 months end in 35 days from today. But they wanna stay for another 45 days. So overall, 6 months and 45 days. My question was, to stay these 45 days, will they need to extend by sending application forms, which will take more than 3 months to even process?

Yes. They will be considered out of status after 6 months if you don't apply for extension. Applying for extension will make them go on implied status which is necessary and required to legally remain in Canada even though they plan to leave before extension is processed.

Thanks. I am curious though. is there any exit immigration when they leave. Strictly from a 3rd persons point of view, this seems like a pointless process, because I understand if someone is attempting to stay for over a longer period of time. But lets say someone only wants to stay for another 5 days, so 6 months and 5 days.

Do they have to pay $100 processing fee etc for these 5 days? Genuinely curious about the logic. Please let me know.

I think that was always in place.

What I meant was, when you enter the country you meet the immigration officers, not when you exit. But getting the information which is being forwarded by the airlines is different because if you are in a country like Malaysia or Singapore, you get arrested and meet the immediate consequences for overstaying. In Canada, I just learned it might jeopardize the future application or entry.

I have another weird question. I wonder if it would be okay if I put both of their applications in the same express post, or does it have to be separate envelope for each application (father and mother) with different tracking numbers. I think its about 25 dollars in Canada post for each speedpost.

^ Correct, IRCC permits multiple apps in a single envelope. They explicitly allow it for citizenship applications for example, no reason why it shouldn’t also be the case here.
