Visitor visa duration question

Hey everyone,

I am applying for a visitor visa from India and plan to tour Canada from May to July-ish this summer. I'll be submitting a copy of my flight ticket to Canada with my application along with places I plan to visit. Now while I plan to submit a flight ticket from Canada as well I'm not sure of the exact date I'll end up returning ( could vary by a week or so ) .

Will the visa be valid only till the time of the return ticket ? It says 6 months but apparently the border official will stamp in the duration. So if I apply for the visa with a particular return ticket and change to a different return date later, will there be any issues with the validity ?

To give an example : Suppose my initial return ticket says July 10th, and I apply for the visa with it, but end up changing to something like July 12th. Will the visa be issued valid for 6 months or will it be issued valid till July 10th ? Or is it something like the stamp at the border will determine it when I land in Canada and I can explain that I will be staying till 12th when I land in Canada ?

Hi,

The short answer: Do NOT book any tickets until a TRV is issued to you.

The visa officer will not consider your tickets/flight dates/provisional flight itineraries when evaluating your application.

The length of your TRV validity will depend on the ties you demonstrate to India + if the visa officer believes you need to visit Canada in the future.

Even if your TRV is issued until the expiry of your passport, how long you are actually allowed to remain in Canada will be decided by the CBSA officer at the port of entry

Cheers
