My partner and I are here with an OWP obtained through the IEC Working Holiday stream. We’re applying for PR through the EE FSWC stream. I’m estimating that it will be 20th January when we get an ITA. Our work permits expire on 12th May.
We’re planning on taking 4 months off work to travel from March to June. We’re going to do around 5 weeks travelling around Canada at the end, so end of May onwards. We could change our plans to be back in Canada before our work permits expire but we would rather not. Plus, if we arrive back to Canada and try to re-enter with a work permit that is going to expire in 1 week, is this going to be an issue?
The other option would be to apply for a BOWP. However given that we are not going to be back at work until the start of July, I’m wondering can we avoid applying for a BOWP.
I’m self-employed I.T. and my partner is full-time employee. She will be taking a personal leave of absence from her job which will be unpaid and she will return to work there after that. I guess technically she will remain an employee but she will not be getting paid or paying taxes. Would it be possible for us to re-enter Canada at the end of May under visitor status while we are waiting for our PR application? Is this going to cause an issue for my partner, can she have visitor status but still remain an employee of a company keeping in mind that she will not be working nor getting paid while she is a visitor?
