Visitor status extended, can we go out of the country and come back?

Hi all,

My wife has stayed with me as a visitor for the last few months. She also applied for extension and it's valid until Apr 2016.

We recently applied for her spousal PR(outland) as well.

Now we are wondering if we leave Canada say to USA for a 1 week trip in December and come back would she have trouble getting back to Canada as a visitor.

Should we wait until we get AOR or SA?

Also I assume the Apr validity expires as soon as you leave the country.

Whether she is allowed back into Canada or not is up to the immigration officer she encounters at the border.

Waiting until you have AOR or SA won't make a difference.
