Hello everyone.

After a year of being in Canada with a WH visa I got myself an extension as a visitor, this extension expired in October and I've been without status for about two months, although I applied for a restoration of status on December 8th but I still have no response.
I have a trip to New York within a few days and I have to stay there for 10 days and I don't know if I should leave the country without a restoration.
Now, I know that Chilean people like myself do not require a visa to enter Canada anymore, but since I've been here over a year and a half I don't know if they will allow me to come back.
My question is, Would I have any problem at the border since I've overstayed without status for two months? And Would it make a difference if I wait for the restoration of my status?

Regards.

Leaving the country and trying to comeback is risky as you would have to convinced the officer of your purpose and clarify why you filed for restoration instead of applying for an extension. Also you would have to show him you are a legitimate visitor, as your WH has expired and it makes little sense to try to enter Canada as a visitor to continue an already long period.

It is up to the officer and how well you can present your case to him.

Yes, if the status is restored at least you would have a stronger argument on why you are coming back. If the restoration was granted that means that you have already convinced CIC that your intentions are trustworthy.
