Visitor Record Granted but Only for 4 Weeks

The government granted my wife a visitor record for an extension of only 4 weeks. I am a Canadian citizen, born here, as were my parents. My wife and I married two years ago and we submitted her PR application almost a year ago. She is also 20 weeks pregnant. We've disclosed all of this in the application, including details about our marriage, so I simply do not understand why government would think my wife has to return to her country of origin. As I understand, a short 4 week extension usually means IRCC feels she has been spending too much time in the country and needs to leave. It does not make sense to me, we told them we married and have an open PR application for her.

What options do we have at this juncture? I don't even know if it's safe to travel this late in a pregnancy.

I assume you have received AOR? If so, apply for an OWP now and that will allow your wife to stay in Canada while you wait for the PR application to be approved.

Certainly no issue traveling at 20 weeks pregnant. Does your spouse have health coverage in Canada? How long has she been visiting Canada? When exactly did you submit your sponsorship application? What stage is it at?
