Hello,
I hope someone is able to shed some light to my question I checked over the cic website but couldn't find anything concrete.
My partner has been living with me for over a year now on a Visitor VISA. In January we mailed away the paperwork necessary to extend her visitors status but are still waiting to hear back to see if she was approved or not. While we have been waiting to hear back her original visitor VISA has expired and she is on implied status and also a full year has passed since we started co-habitating. I am aware that we can apply through Family Class Sponsorship for Permanent Residency as a Common Law couple but I was unsure if we had to wait to hear back about her visitor extension first.
Does her being on implied status while we wait to hear back on her extension valid enough to begin the permanent residence application? Or do we have to wait for her extension to be approved first?
Thanks!
