Looking for some help..

I am currently living in ottawa preparing my common law sponsorship application package to send off by end of the year.

I am originally from Scotland and was on 2 IEC work permits. When my second permit ran out I applied for visitor status. I received this and it expires 18th April 2015.

I was considering going him to Scotland for a visit in the next few weeks. What would happen at canadian immigration on my return to canada? Is there a chance I wouldn't be allowed back in?

My visitor document is titled "Visitor Record" Towards the bottom of document it says "Temporary Resident Status maintained as per R183(6)" Then says "This does not authorise re-entry "

I understand that it's saying it doesn't guarantee re-entry if I left for a week and then returned.. But if I had the visitor document with me would I likely be allowed back in?

Hope that all makes sense!

Thanks!

When you leave, that visitor record becomes useless but, as a visa-exempt passport holder, you can start a new cycle of "visiting" when you return. Any decisions about letting you enter will depend totally on the border services officer that processes you.

Thanks zardoz.. This is pretty much what I thought. So my visitor document I have right now would be null worthless the minute I leave canada.

On returning, providing the immigration official approves, would they issue me a new document same as I have just now do you think?

So conflicted as to what to do.. Id be panicking about them not allowing me back in. I think it would be better if my application was submitted but it definitely won't be. Do you think they'd be happier if my app. was submitted?

You can just never tell what they're going to say at immigration..
