I am Canadian citizen and my husband is in India. I have filed for my husband's spousal sponsorship which is in process. In the meantime he also got his visitor visa which is valid upto 10 years. My questions are as follows:

1) If my husband comes to Canada as a visitor and he gets the passport request for his PR file, can he do the virtual landing from Canada or he will have to go back to India to complete the process and then land as as a PR?

2) While my husband is still in India and he gets the passport request for his PR file let's say just a day prior to his flight to Canada, can he still come to Canada as a visitor and do virtual landing from here? Or he will have to postpone his flight, submit his passport for PR from India and then land as PR?

Please help. Thanks.

1. he needs to update his address if in Canada. If in Canada yes he can do a virtual landing
2. He can arrive as a visitor and then request a virtual landing but that may take some time.

Thank you for your response!

I have a follow-up question regarding his visitor visa. In my invitation letter I had mentioned that my husband will be in Canada for a month. But he got visitor visa for 9 years and I understand he can live in Canada at a stretch for 6 months and thereafter I will have to renew his visa. He has also booked his return ticket after one month.

Now that he got visitor visa for long time, will it be a problem if he stays back with me? Will it be a red flag on his application when he submits the webform to update his address and ask for virtual landing? I am thinking to postpone his return ticket for few months so that he can stay here as a visitor and wait for his PR.

How long he can visit it always dependent on CBSA upon entry. He will be given a visit of up to 6 months. You will have to extend his visit via visitor record or you can apply for an SOWP once he has AOR. No issue updating his address to show he is now in Canada.

Thank you.
1) Can we apply for SOWP as soon as he arrives in Canada as a visitor? He already received his AOR last month. Not sure if it will be a problem if he applies for SOWP right away or should he wait for sometime on visitor status.
2) Whether he decides to stay as a visitor or apply for SOWP, will it be a problem if we cancel his return ticket? To be honest, I want him to stay with me until he gets his PR. Is it best to postpone the return ticket until he gets SOWP?
