- 22-02-2013....FINALLY after almost 1 full year since applying
I have a couple of questions about visitor extensions. It seems from reading the forums that some people get them, others don't. My Husband is from the U.S. and we have an outland application submitted but not in progress as yet (we applied in March.) We drove across the border and of course, with him being an American, they didn't stamp his passport, they just waved us through so we got the default 6 months. We applied for a visitor extension for him when we sent in our PR application. We sent a copy of his passport and passport card (no stamps of course), a letter that I will support him and a copy of our joint account with $7000.00 in it and an explanation that since we drove across the border, they don't tend to give visitors records or stamp passports upon entering Canada. We called CIC and they said that they are aware that the border guards just wave Americans through all the time and not to worry, the don't normally deny because of it. I am worried from reading the forums that this extension will be denied, yet some people have had multiple extensions over the years with the same kind of circumstances.
I would appreciate it if someone could give me their experience with this or their opinion on the subject.
