Visitor Extension / Visitor Record length ?

Hi guys I helped a friend got his Visitor Extension, but the newly arrived Visitor Record grants only another 6 months of stay.
Is this the standard length ? He is getting a bit irritated since the extension is only 6 months...

Hi,

To be granted a visa/extension is considered to be a privilege and not a right..... and again, a Visitor Visa is meant for visiting.... and not to stay for prolonged stretches of time

Your friend is lucky that CIC considered his case favorably and granted him an extension for six months
