My goal is to be sponsored to become a resident.
I am American visiting Canada, arrived on 6/12/18. I want to extend for 6 months allowing me to stay until 6/12/19, in order to live a full year with my partner (CAD citizen) to earn a common law marriage.
After the extension I will return to USA. Will I have any issue traveling back into Canada from USA in 2019? Will Border and customs know that I extended my stay and not allow me to enter because I was just visiting for 1 year?
Instead of leaving on 6/12/19 should I apply for another extension and start my sponsorship process and live in Canada during the process?
