Visitor extension or OWP

Hi, I’m currently in Canada on visitor visa. My husband is on work permit. My 6 months visitor status is expiring in Jan 2021 but visitor visa is valid till 2022. I need to extend my status now. Can I directly apply for OWP or do I have to apply for visitor extension and OWP separately? Kindly provide suggestions at the earliest!! Thanks in advance!!

They are two different things so I'd suggest applying for visitor extension and OWP so no matter what you should retain status.
