This may be a silly question, but:

I started the process online and it requires a digital copy of a photo. But on the document checklist (IMM5558E), it's not required...it just asks for photocopy of passport/immigration doc, etc.

So should I just apply with paper? The dimensions and specifications for the digital photo headshot are annoying (and attaching letter of explanation/support/statuary declaration of common-law, etc into 1 pdf), but not a problem if online yields faster processing times.

Honestly, I'm a bit skeptical of the online app. It took me forever to even get the right application using the survey questions (kept denying me by saying the US citizens are exempt).

Thoughts appreciated. Even if it's to tell me I'm over-thinking something simple and either way doesn't matter!

I did my visitor extension online and it was pretty quick and easy. I went and had a photo taken at a photo place that takes passport photos. They also have the dimensions for Immigration requests. I scanned the pic and sent it in a file with my online application. I was confused in the beginning with the photo dimensions also, thinking I could just use a photo that I had taken of myself. I was very happy that I realized that I needed to get it done at a photo place so it had the correct dimensions.

I don't know much about doing the application on paper and mailing it in. It might take longer to get a response but I just don't know, sorry.
Good luck!!

I applied for visa extension online for my mother in Canada. I received 1 email message right away when i submitted my application (online confirmation of payment - receipt)- Confirmation of Online Application Transmission. It's been 1 week now and I haven't received Submission Confirmation and no updates.
No online application number and application status details are not available. Her permitted stay expires on August 30th.
Please advice me on what I should do.
