Visitor Extension Application, What Is My Marital Status?

Hello,

I have been in Canada for 5 months as a visitor and would like to extend my stay so that I can apply after one year of living with my boyfriend, as a Common Law Partner.

Currently I am in the stages of filling out the application however I need something to be cleared up so I can finish this correctly :D

At this moment, I have lived with my boyfriend for 5 months and have been 100% dependent on him and shared expenses with him (basically whatever would qualify for common-law).

My question is... Are we technically in a common law partnership right now?

Or,

Does our common law partnership begin after one complete year of living together? We have not signed any official paperwork declaring a Common Law Partnership (due to not knowing if there is some sort of thing like that).

This question stems because on the application it asks for my current marital status, and I don't want to make a mistake or be questioned for proof when we simply did not know!

Thank you so much in advance!

I would say your single: you are not married, and the common-law(I believe) is not official until the 12 month mark.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong.
