Visitor Emergency Health Insurance, I am confused by the coverage amounts

Hi,

I am looking to buy a visitor emergency health insurance to cover my visitor stay while I receive PR via spousal sponsorship. I am confused and concerned by the very low amount of coverage they offer:

- For travel (holiday, round trip) insurance to Canada it is generally recommended $2mil in medical expenses cover, so I would have thought the same applies for emergency healthcare insurance, but I can only find up to $150k coverage. This is more than 10 times less and it makes me very concerned. I have read on this forum someone who had a $300k medical bill as a visitor. That scares me.

- Also, would the $150k include the cost of repatriation? No way that is going to be enough if they need to fly me from Canada to Europe while needing intensive care therapy. And if they don't repatriate me, the $150k would quickly run out in intensive care.

- A better solution seems to me to buy a backpacker/nomad travel insurance up to $2mil or more. Am I missing something here? It seems foolish to me to buy the visitor emergency healthcare insurance instead given the very low coverage amount.

Thoughts?
