Hi, I am a Canadian citizen born in Canada and I sent application about a week ago, and I am deciding to go visit my wife in Afghanistan about 4 months from now. Will this affect my sponsorship proccessing in any way? And is there any possible chance her application would be done by then so I can come back to Canada with her? (4 Months)

Thanks.

As a Canadian citizen you can leave the country and be with your spouse no problem. The problem arises with being a permanent resident and leaving the country.

How long you plan on visiting your wife? If anything visiting your wife after submitting application strengthens your application should an interview and appeal arise. I've read many denied cases where the sponsor submits application and that's it. No proof of communication or visiting their spouse after submitting their application.

Personally I don't see any chance she will come back to Canada with you if it's 4 month from now. It takes close to 2 months just for Mississauga to approve you to sponsor your spouse. Than another week to transfer your file to Afghanistan visa office. Between 2nd to 4th month they will have to assess your eligibility, criminality, medical and background check. Than if everything is pass they will ask your wife to submit her passport so that they can issue her a visa in her passport and that can take couple weeks to a month. And they are working on clearing the backlogs as well.
