HI All,

I am sure these questions have been answered hundreds of times before but I cant seem to find the answers. I hope the visa gurus here will be able to help me.

I am a US citizen applying outland PR spouse visa and am waiting on CPP- LA to review my file after requesting further documents which I submitted 2 weeks ago. I have been waiting 9 months already and have reached my breaking point. I have been away from my wife for 3 months and it seems like an eternity.

I am planning to visit her in the end of March and want to stay with her until I receive my visa if I dont have it by then. Which seems unlikely because posters here indicate its taking at least a month after the PPR for the COPR to be received in the mail.

Can i stay for up to 6 months as a tourist in Canada? Do I need another visa? What do I tell the immigration officer at the border? Will he grant me the 6 months time if I show him documents that my PR application is in process?

What is best way to handle the border situation? Ultimately I have to come back to the states to get all my property to land after receiving the COPR anyway. Maybe showing bank account records will help also?

Also does immigration have any problems with mailing the COPR to a Canadian address in an outland application?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

And good luck to us all in this gruelling process!!

Being a US citizen you don't need a visit visa (TRV) to enter Canada. Usually the BSA at the boarder may permit you for 6 months, if you are able to show any strong proof, if asked, about your intension for return to US within the allowed period or when the PR visa is approved. Documents of your property, your bank statements etc. should be kept with you. It is a good idea to limit your personal belongings. A car full of baggage could create a suspician that you may perhaps won't return.

A polite, frank and clear explanation about your visiting plan will of course help you to get the entry smooth. Uasually there will not be any embarrassing situation at the boarder.

Good luck. Have a nice week-end :D
