Hi,
Would someone be able to get a TRV and visit Canada before getting their PR confirmation (from express entry)?
We miscalculated some dates and cutoffs, and it seems unlikely that my boyfriend will have CoPR before my classes begin (I'm going on a study permit, we're not common law), but we would still like to move to Canada together. If he is able to get a TRV (and we're aware that's a big if), would there be any problems if he went to Canada with me, probably 2-3 months before his process is done? Then go across the border and back for landing? He has a valid US tourist visa.
I'm aware dual intent is a thing, but I'm not super sure how to make it work.
Obviously we are aware he would have to go back home if getting CoPR took more than 6 months.
In case he's able to.. Would he be able to take his cat with him? That's probably the only "thing" he's bringing to Canada that he would need to declare, and a sewing machine.
We could leave the sewing machine, but not the cat. The other option would be for me to bring the cat, since my studies are two years long.
Obviously, if it's too complicated he'll wait, we're just exploring our options before it's late.
Thanks!
