I work in the US on the H1B visa. My previous employer wanted to me to work from the Canadian office for a few months and applied for a work permit + TRV for me (plus a OWP for my spouse and TRV for him as well). The TRV category says "Work". However it later turned out that I didn't have to work from Canada after all. I moved to another company. We now want to travel to Vancouver to get my H1B stamped. I wonder if we can use the same TRV to visit Vancouver to get the US visa stamped, even though the category says "Work"? Would appreciate an answer to my question. Thanks!

Yes. You can do it.

Carry with you your WP, and explain the situation to the officer.

There should be no problem.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately since I no longer work for that company and therefore don't have the WP. Only have the stamped visa in the passport.
