Im in quite an unique situation here. I hope someone
can help calm my nerves and understand this!

Background: i'm a Danish citizen so a non excempt country

In October 2010 i visited Canada for the 1st time for 4 weeks (28 days)
left when i should.

Came back again in Janurary 2011 and stayed until March 31st so just about 11 weeks!

Came back to Canada on June 23rd to stay for a month

Came back once again on September the 1st until November 9th

and now i'm coming out again on November 30th to stay for 3 months!

I'm dead nervous being denied entry this time as i've basically being staying in Canada for more than and i read somewhere thats not a good thing?

I've always left when i should and never had any problems but do you think coming for 3 months this time would make them deny me entry? I'm intending to stay at my boyfriends for the holidays and new years and then backpack around in the country!

To answer your question: yes - they can certainly deny you entry. They can deny anyone entry.

If you spending more time in Canada than outside of Canada as a visitor - this can be a problem. As we've told you before - no one can tell you what will happen at the border because it's up to the immigration official you speak to. I think there's a very good chance you will have no problems at all. But there's also always a chance you may be refused entry.

A friend of mine from the US married a Canadian a while back. She was spending more time in Canada as a visitor than outside of Canada. On her last trip into Canada before she and her husband officially submitted her PR application, she was held at immigration and question for three hours - specifically because of the amount of time she was spending in Canada. They were going to refuse her entry. But she eventually convinced them to let her into the county - but ONLY because she was able to provide evidence that they had already paid the PR spousal sponsorship fees and she was able to show some evidence that they had started putting together the application.

My husband on the other hand (also American) spent far more time in Canada than outside of Canada as a visitor for the better part of three years and never ran into a problem (he did however have a Nexus card and didn't have to speak with immigration officials for most crossings).

Long story short - none of us here can tell you what's going to happen.

Good luck and I hope everything works out. Please let us know!

hi Scylla! thanks for your response. it makes perfect sense that they don't like people visiting too often.

i hope you don't mind me asking but how frequent were you friend visiting? was it the same pattern as i'm doing with staying for 2 months, go home and stay for one or two and then come out again?

though i left just a week ago and i'm coming back in exactly 2 weeks from here. i don't have a nexus card unfortunately because i'm from Denmark.

what kind of proof would you suggest i bring with me? i'm living with my parents still. could a doctors appointment or something like that work?

my bf and i are yet to start a PR application! but im about to apply for an IEC visa and then obtain it by flagpoling over there would that be something i should tell them?

ef.. i'm so nervous it's almost sickening to think about!
that's how nervous i am!

ps just rated you! :)

Sorry for the late reply!

My friend was probably spending 75% of her time in Canada when she was stopped. That's a rough estimate.

In terms of proof, I wouldn't bother with a doctor's appointment. I don't think that will hold much water since they're very easy to get and the consequences of missing one are nil. Proof is typically something much stronger like: property ownership, rental agreement, business ownership, proof of employment, proof of school enrollment. A return airline ticket would also be a very very good idea in my opinion.

My friend's situation was quite different than your in that she was already married to a Canadian, they had paid their application fees already and they were only weeks away from filing the sponsorship application. She had few ties to the US. However she was allowed into Canada because she was eventually able to show strong proof that she and her husband had concrete plans to submit a sponsorship application and were almost ready to file.

Good luck!

Showing house ownership as proof of ties only works if you actually own the property (i.e. your name is on the legal deed). Since your name isn't on the deed - I don't think the IO would see this as proof.

Based on the information you provided, I think your best option is to bring basic proof: return flight, itinerary, proof you have sufficient funds to pay for your stay in Canada.

Good luck!
