Visiting Canada from Visa Exempt Country

We've applied for outland spousal sponsorship and our application has been sent to LVO. I've been approved as sponsor, currently living in London, England with my wife. We were hoping to receive an answer by September (as I indicated on my sponsorship application that my intent was to return to Canada in September) but are trying to decide what to do in the event that we haven't received a final decision.

Question: Has anyone who's applied outland, from a visa exempt country, had any difficulties coming through to Canada as a visitor?

We're worried that if my wife has a return ticket for 3-4 months she'll be told that she'll only be able to stay for a few weeks. Is this likely? Any advice is appreciated!

She probably won't have any problems. She has to be clear that she is a visitor, and should have a return ticket with a specific date, proof of ties to her own country, and proof of the PR application.
